Neurological Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation
Neurological rehabilitation and therapies are commenced through timely and appropriate screening, examination, evaluation by the physiotherapist followed by appropriate intervention for patients with neurological challenges and movement disorders. Rehabilitation is primarily focused on improving motor (movement) skills, balance and coordination, strength and endurance, gait, as well as cognitive and sensory processing/ integration. The most common neurological conditions for which we render Neuro- rehabilitation at our OPD are Hemiplegia following stroke/ brain injury/ tumors, Spinal cord injury, Bell's palsy, Parkinsonism, Radiculopathy etc.

Community Based Rehabilitation
We co-ordinate and integrate provision of services to patients with Neuromuscular and Musculo-skeletal disorders at community levels and home setups autonomously or combined with various community-based agencies. The graduate/ post graduate students, interns and staff at VIPT play a dynamic role in such outreach programs. Over the years, VIPT has been actively been organizing or been an important part in numerous NSS activities, AIDS awareness programs, Geriatric and Pediatric health camps, Community health Screening in Slums, Blood donation camps, Walkathons, Street plays and many other facets of community services. During such initiatives, we lay emphasis on imparting education to caregivers (family/parents/teachers) regarding the special needs of these patients and also deliver treatment free of cost. We also deliver advice and plans on certain community modifications in order to create a barrier free environment.

Pediatric Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation
Pediatric physical therapy assists in early detection of developmental problems and uses a wide variety of modalities to treat disorders in the pediatric population. We provide preventive and progressive care in children and adolescents with a variety of congenital, developmental, neuromuscular, skeletal, or acquired disorders with an objective to develop gross and a fine motor ability and to aid emergence of normal developmental progression of a child. The aim is to identify the inherent physical abilities and build the movement patterns using various therapy forms, play and activities which the child likes to perform. The conditions like Cerebral palsy, Down's syndrome, Sensory integration disorders are dealt with at our pediatric rehabilitation facility.

Musculo skeletal and Sports Physiotherapy
Musculo-Skeletal conditions encompass a broad range of disorders that affect the bones, joints and connective tissue, and includes arthritis (and related conditions) and trauma. This department caters the student in to acquire knowledge, understanding and skills in techniques of basic and advanced physiotherapy practice skills in supervised clinical settings. Vemana Institute of Physiotherapy has a well equipped department that can cater to the wide range of sports rehabilitation and training. The therapists at VIPT over the years have treated a variety of sports injuries and musculoskeletal disorders. A lot of athletes have been specifically trained to improve their performance and have given exceptional feedback to the efficient protocol delivered to them. The in- campus OPD serves patients with a variety of physical ailments including pain, balance impairments and to improve the overall well being and quality of life.

Cardio-Respiratory Physiotherapy
This is an area of physiotherapy that specializes in the prevention and the rehabilitation of patients with diseases pertaining to heart and lungs. This department aims to prepare students with well-versed knowledge and provide best treatment for people of all ages and to aid the individuals to reach their full potential following illness or surgery. The patients with cardio-respiratory problems who need Bronchial hygiene, Airway Clearance, Secretion removal and patients posted for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery and other Surgeries are treated to minimize the chest complication using Manual and Independent Chest Physiotherapy Techniques. This department is well equipped with various Evaluation & Interventional Equipment like Pulmonary Function Test Device, Nebuliser, Bi-Cycle Ergometer, Incentive Spirometer, Treadmill, Re-education mirrors, Sphygmomanometer, Weights, Tilt table, etc to assess and rehabilitate the patients with cardio-respiratory problems.
